Default 17 x 9.5J - will it fit?

Morning all, tried searching but can't find anything...

Thinkin of buying some wheels that are 17" x 9.5J and ET 12.

Was just wondering if these will fit in the arches etc?

Cheers
Sam

I know its a larger diameter, but if you're wanting to put 18x9.5 the offset needs to be 30plus, sound to by Skyline fitment (and aggressive at that) wheels. It'd be doable, but dependant on ride height would probably need camber and plenty of arch work.

Im sure somebody with actual experience will be along soon.

Thanks M444GY, What will it rub on? I'm looking for something that will protrude the arches by around 20mm as I will be fitting some arch flare thingies.

Cheers

Hi there

This offset is too wide for standard arches,we run 9JX17" ET20 on our wagon and they're stick out from arches like at front or rear

If you will go with them, then you will deffo need run coilovers, camber bolts and very aggressive setup with ABW arches at least(I would choose Karlton arches, with those you should be able to accommodate 285/40)

You don't mention what car it is for. If it's a newage then the wheels will sit around 20-25mm outside of the arch line but in my opinion, 17's bill be too small a diameter to work properly.
If it's a classic then the diameter is correct (in my opinion again) but the wheels will protrude the arches a bit more than you're after

Sorry, thought standard wheels were 17's but are 18's so would be thinking 18 x 9.5 or 9j

Just want to get the bolt on little arch things like this...

Depending on the fitment and tyre size you want to use you might be able to go for 18x10 with them arch extensions

He will never get 18x10 on with those arch extensions as it will need a proper custom kit to fit 10" rims

Well mine has 9.5" with no arch extensions so I think 10" would go on easily. I'm pretty sure they are more than 1/2" wide, although if I was putting extensions on I'd go for the Karlton ones mentioned above...................in fact, I might have a look at doing just that

Nice one, what would I need to do in the way of suspension mods to make these fit?

Coilovers and some arch work for the arch extensions, a bit of camber as well without the extensions

You mean you have say Rota 9.5" wheels fitted with a 35 offset and really stretched 225 tyres? As there is no way you can have 9.5" wide rims with proper tyres fitted to your car with no work.

I have 9" Rotas on mine with a stretched 225 tyre just to get me by until my ABW arches are fitted and they are tight but with a wider tyre for them not to catch you can not drive thru any bends in anger.

I know people who have pulled 10" wide rims off there car even though they have wide arch kits on as they were rubbing on the rears but again this was with proper sized tyres and not stretched 225.
There is also Toffee who has 10" wide rims on his car and he had to have extra arch extensions added to already wide body kit as fitted by ABW.

Hi Steve

Here are pics of our wagon, which has run 245/40 ZR18 with Rota Grid Drift 9.5JX18" ET38(or ET35 now I'm not sure)

Only modifications are camber bolts, coilovers and rolled arches plus geo afterwards

Yes little bit Steve, but still better like with 225/40

For 9.5J wheels you want or need to run 255,if you don't want any stretch

Why are you being an ****? I'm just trying to give the lad some advice on what wheels will go on his car. Nowhere have I mentioned anything about tyre sizes so please wind your neck in.

Also, how hypocritical can you be slagging off 225 tyres when that's what you run, even if it is just till your extensions arrive, "you can not drive thru any bends in anger."

For the record, I have had a bit of arch work done and run 18x9.5 Work wheels with et38 and mega stupidly stretched 225/40 tyres, but I'm fine with my setup because I don't drive it hard on the road, I go to the track for that, and change my wheels and tyres
