Default Can I change rear brake backing plates in situ?

Basically I have a v3 type r with the solid rear discs and calipers and want to change them to 2 pots using the correct backing plates I also have.

Can I pull centre of the hub out without removing the whole hub from the car. Seems silly to do so much work changing the hubs when the ones on the car are already r180's and in good condition.

Any links to how to's would be good.

It will probably pull the bearing apart when remove the drive flange , if your fitting new bearings then it wouldn't matter , but I can see it being a bugger of a job without using a press , when I had the rally car we used to take them off to change the bearing , it doesn't take long to remove then
