Self-applying brakes and heat issues
Having some brake problems with my 2001 classic Impreza sport.
Been suffering from what seems to be a sticky front drivers side brake caliper, pulled up after driving about 15-20mins and the whole brake assembly, and alloy was sizzling hot. Passenger side - warm, but not hot. So took everything apart at the weekend, cleaned everything up, caliper wasnt seized, piston was clean, copper slipped everything. No problems for about a month, then driving along the dual carriageway all of a sudden the car starts juddering, can feel it through all the pedals and feels like the brakes were applying themselves? Was no where need to brake pedal what so ever. Pump the brake a few times hard, and it seems to right itself.
What could be causing the judder? I suspected warped discs and/or sticky caliper. But everything looks and seems fine for 99% of the time, and then randomly one day it will start messing about again.
Any ideas?
Joe
