Default Why would my n/s rear wheel be "rusty"?

Not on the Scoob, on an Astra CDTi.

Alloy wheel, I've just had to clean it THREE times, once with household detergent, and twice with Wonder Wheels to get a layer of granular "rust" off it. I'm not SURE it's rust, but can't see what else it could be and it's rust coloured.

I've just had new discs and pads on the rear and one caliper was said to have been sticking, plus the inside of the discs was badly corroded.

Connected?

Plus the rust coating was on the REAR edges of all the spokes, not their leading edges and very little on the front faces.

Grinder sparks/ dust sticking into the paint , then rusting ?

Happened to me on an old Fiesta when i took a grinder to the arches. Never noticed till i washed the car a few days later and it was like u described all up the side of the car.

Sounds like hot metal particles from the disc landing on the rim under braking. It's possible that the aerodynamics were pulling the particles into the vacuum caused by the spokes, hence the rear face bearing the brunt of it rather than the front. Iron-X is the best stuff for removing steel particles and industrial fallout from paintwork/wheels.

None of these things are the cheapest but they are effective:

Bilt Hamber Korrosol: http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/bilt-h...e.php?cPath=82

CarPro IronX: http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/carpro...l.php?cPath=82

If you take a look on detailingworld you'll see reviews and plenty of 'in action' shots. I've only used the IronX but really rate it, you can see it streaming purple off the affected areas.
