Default wheel nuts

hi everyone have a bit of a strange one here

got some new wheel nuts for my 2010 wrxs and for some reason they don't fit I assume the new hatchback cars have a different thread as the new nuts are 12x1.25 that's what I thought the car was

the nuts only go half turn then tighten up so seems to me there not the same threads

many thanks phil
