Default Godspeed discs/which pads

Hi all, have recently posted and received advice to get Godspeed discs/kevlar pads for my 05 STi.I drive normal to spirited and my current Mintex pads have been on for 25,000 miles.Looking for low dust pads and was going to get EBC grooved disc and redstuff pads i'd seen on offer for £629.Obviously Godspeed offer looks VERY good next to this and from what i have read top quality as well.

ive got the godspeed discs and ebc orangestuff pads on my 04 STI, all bought from godspeed. I would say my driving style also 'spirited'

I really rate them personally and would buy the same setup again.

Cheers guys, would not normally bother about paying more, but have some other work to do on the car so looking for quality and value at this time.Only cover around 4,500 miles a year,so am thinking the kevlar pads would be ok.Mintex squeal a bit sometimes,so if kevlar are low dust and quiet i would be chuffed.

Well the ebc orange or blue are NOT low dust, pagid pads may be ok for you for the odd blast too and are quite decent and shockingly cheap (better than the Kevlar I'm lead to belive are Sunday driving pads).or even better performance friction z rated, I ve heard these are quite low dust and preform well.

I have just taken some kevlar pads out of my scoob because i found them shyte with no bite, they felt wooden and after 5 months of complaining to a well known seller on here they have finally agreed to refund me.

(Possibly more info to come on this topic as im not happy with seller at all!)

For the time being i have slung some padgid pads in until my redstuff arrive and they are spot on for the price, Not tested them to the max yet but they do actually have some bite unlike the shyte kevlar things.

Cheers addi.Would prefer mintex, redstuff pads as at under £200 front & rear i think is not bad as KIA wanted £200 for pads for my dads KIA Carens.Have seen a lot of possitives about the Godspeed discs,so would like EBC,Pagid or Mintex.Any comments on the discs would be appreciated.

I'm running standard sized grooved discs from Godspeed (along with the Kevlar pads) and have found them to be much better than standard discs/pads.

From what I have gathered (but Ian will confirm), there are two different types of Kevlar pad, a cheaper version and a better quality version. I've had them fitted a few months now and had no issue stopping. does give off more brake dust over standard but I wax the wheels religiously anywho and have had no issues there. That's general pootling about with the odd 'giving it hell' blast from a modified classic wagon

and you see now how my replies are so brupt,(regarding brake.,,,,,,,,, and theres more )
after all these are meant to be a step up from oe pads and yet oe pads have better charistics. The pagids are surprisingly good and can take some abuse,(but only limited) for the money they are bang on.

But comparing from a classic and newage is a diffrent story, and if there are 2 pads floating about then only the best 1 should be sold as that's still crap IMO at the best of times, just like the crap testing batch that ebc give out to dealers to test prior to sale of the orange stuff that was being sold on to customers.

They were manufactured and sold as different quality, just as any other pad, Corky. I obviously opted for the better more expensive of the two options but iirc there were two types, an Indian one and German one. That's what I read on here and I had no qualms in confirming with Ian

Thanks for the replies and i can assume that the grooved discs are good quality and my only problem is which pads.As i have said i drive normally to spirited and so the kevlar pads would be ok,but i have grown up with going for the best or brand names and that is my sticking point.Maybe i should sit back and watch other posters slug it out before deciding lol.Andy.

The discs are spot on even if you wish to use a better pad choice (which again Ian would advise on on an individual basis for the customer). I've gone on personal experience so let the other guys slug out whatever they want to, it won't change my opinion of his products

Can understand what your saying, but the Kevlar is just a budget pad, what I don't understand is how the heck they would sell 2 types of same pad that's like selling 2 types of ds2500s etc, it's not as if kevlars are a popular range for them to be selling 10 diffrenent compounds.
In all some people may be happy with them, but I'd be livid if I ended up getting the crap ones instead of the 'better' one. Dosent make good business practice

Think I would be too hense why they're sold at different prices (that's my understanding from group buys and speaking to Ian in person beforehand). I specifically asked for the better of the two compounds regards Kevlar pads and had no issue paying extra. Lets say Ian looked after me and gave me a very good price all round, so that and his excellent customer service will see me as a repeat customer I went off recommendation from my food friend who's used him for 10 years on a 400+ classic

I'm on my second set of Ian's kevlar pads and have no complaints: classic running 400/400, 330 mm Godspeed discs and Godspeed smaller Brembos on the front.

Mine also has the brake bias mod, which I find does wonders to the car's braking characteristics.

I offer various pads for various prices , I guess if you ran your own business you would understand , yes we offer 2 different kevlar spec pads , for those that think they know it all but don't , kevlar is a material content in the pad formulation , it is not a make of pad , the two pad types we sell are made by 2 different companies , which is why the price and spec is different , ok , are the ones causing trouble clear on this or would you like me to explain further ?

We sell probably 30 kits with kevlar pads to 1 kit with other spec pads , and I put this being down to price , we have found cost is a massive factor in people buying discs and pads , most will look at the price first , and then the finer details , not everyone but most , this is what WE have been finding in the last two years and I put this down to the economic climate.

Our cheapest disc and pad set up which I find together work well for a first step up from standard , they are not WRC brakes as some would come to expect lol , to show the dfferences in cost we sell the 294mm grooved painted discs and comline sport kevlar pads for £99.99 , we also sell , and have done for over 10 years a kevlar based pad that is made in Germany , they costs more but also work better , I am not saying there is a big difference between them as there isn't , at the end of the day they are a mild fast road pad designed for the everyday driver who wants to give it a bit of stick now and again , this is all I have ever sold them for , and I have said numerous time in the past the German made pads are better than the Comline pads , our discs with the German made kevlar pads are £119.99.

As we found cost to big a big factor , and we were selling a lot more comline pads to the German pads , the deals we are currently offering and advertising on here are the Comline pads.
We generally find that if the kevlar pads don't suit a certain driver , then they would be looking for a much higher performing pad so we just haven't offered our German pads on here but going onto pads such as Orangestuff , bluestuff , PF Z rated pads , Mintex M1155 , Ferodo DS2500 and 3000's , Pagid ( all types ) ect ect.

Hope this clears up some of the argument

Cheers Ian

Lol, so thats why you speak to me in the way you do, thats clear now,
Honestly i have no beef with no one i can assure you that, i just say how i see it and dont shy away from people and facts.
And just to be clear i DONT follow you around you posts, if you think back carefully you reply on brake threads that ive commented on and when you dont see something you dont like you try belittle me FACT.
So if your gonna try with me at least get your priotites right!
You obviously see me as a threat otherwise you wouldnt try and correct me all the time to save you rep.
Just like the time when you EVENTUALLY agreed with me othe the track ebc pads are not suuitable for track use, but yet you advertised them as track pads.

Really do you really want me to start, im not that poor of a person to bring you down to that level.

I had a issue with you a while ago regarding my set ups and wasted precious time and you told me numerous problems etc and i found the issue myself and then you agreed after wasting my time when all that could of been saved if i was told the right info from the start and yet i still see it happening.

Really and that just a piece of the cake, but i understand as a business point of view, business is just business, wink wink.

Im not dropping that shallow, if i see a thread recommending certain products then i will post and give my recomendations and then at least ive give my view and if folk want to take my opinion then fine, if not then thats fine also, then when they have an issue at least then they know that they had the advise but chose others advise.

So just to be clear, you jump on my posts! I have never jumped on your post, i only post to members.

Funny how you pound every brake thread and offer free advise with a little we msg at bottom with ' we offer this that and the other' anybody would think that your strugling.

To the OP, buy what pad type suits your driving style which I'm sure Ian can assist with.

I've only ever bought Godspeed brake discs over my 3 Impreza's, in fact my car spent a day with Ian for him to sort out a problem caused by someone else. This involved a lot of machining, mechanical work and ball ache for Ian but he and his son stayed until past 7pm to finish the job; they had worked on my car for the day and wouldn't leave until it was finished.

Most garages would have given me the **** off pill at 5pm but Ian soldiered on and only shut up after I'd be on a test run to make sure I was happy and all was well.

I'd 100% recommend Godspeed without hesitation.

No offense Corky as I think you're a jolly decent chap but the way your reply was worded above does suggest you have 'beef' either with Ian personally or some of his products. As suggested it may be better to start a new thread or pm or speak on the phone as it does neither reputation any good. You may think my comment is biased but I'm trying to save this thread from descending like others.

Plus a lot of other traders on here have messages dotted about regards advertising so it's slightly unfair to single Ian out on that

Right, last I'll say on the subject as the OP seems to have made a choice
