I need a replacement tyre for my MY01, anyone know a good (i.e. cheap) place?

I've got to go to Elite Wheels and Tyres in Reading tomorrow to get two tyres replaced undetr the lease contract but I've got to get a third and pay for it myself and I don't think they're very cheap - quoted about £130 inc VAT for a 215/45 x 17 Dunlop

Tiggs were you pi**ed when you posted that or just holding one of the kids 'cos I haven't got a clue what you were trying to say!!!!

Interleasing specify Dunlop or Michelin.....personally I wouldn't touch Michelin if they paid em to take 'em and the two fronts I had put on at 10,000 were Dunlops and seem to have lasted better than the Bridgestone RE011's and give better grip and feel so I'm happy with them....

There is a tyre place called "Martins", it's in West End which is just outside Bisley, near the Gordon Boys school on the A322. I've always bought tyres from them, they can usually better any prices, and are very careful with your precious alloys (which is rare), as they are only a small outfit they may not have the tyre in stock so there could be a delay of a couple of days,
Hope this is of use, if not this time worth a phone call for future purchases.

I've always found Micheldever Tyres just outside Winchester very good. Try www.micheldever.co.uk but you will need to ring them for prices, too many to list on the net.

Andy.

I second Micheldever! Top service and good prices.

Everyone else local to me quated me £150 each for tyres, Micheldever did it for £115 each!! Always worth giving them a call and they have all the skills to perform any geometery checks!

Thanks to all those who responded. Bracknell Tyres were pretty cheap, quioted £85 ish for a Dunlop SP9000 whereas Elite wanted £130ish for a SP2000....not sure of the difference

However in the end I negotiated a part worn (Elite's 'loan tyre') for 40 quid cash which will now see me through 'til the new year by which time I will have saved enough to get my 19" Diablos!!!

Tiggs,

I think I've worked out waht you were scrabbling to say...." Your OE RE011's hadn't done very many miles before becominng worn out so you negotiated to obtain Potenza SO3's"?

In the end I got Dunlop SP2000's put on as they are the same as the ones put on the front so I've at least got the same tyres all round. Interleasing bought the two new ones and I bought the 'loan' tyre ( a part worn SP2000) for 40 quid cash

Just my personal opinion - be careful at Micheldever - they managed to completely mess up our little Micra and we've had problems with the fitting of the SO2's on our 17" Radius R3's it was taken back several times and now the back tyres blown resulting in our scoob in a ditch We're trying to find out the cause - but it just came away from the rim which is a bit dubious.

I'll probably get flamed for it - but it is my personal opinion. btw, they did the Prodrive settings excellently

And edited to say they do have a good reputation!
