Default Winter Tyres - Recommendations?

Hi all

I have just bought myself a second set of standard STI wheels for my 2005 STI Uk, to use during the winter.

I just wanted to know what tyres people tend to use during the winter, or have any experience of running? I'm not too happy running the Bridgestone RE050's in the wet and snow! I'm looking at the standard size of 225/45 R17 aswell

Thanks for any help!

Been covered lots of times before so there is a lot of info on here.

I ran pirelli sotto zero in that size on my old spec d and it was faultless in the cold, wet and snow.

I ran Michelin Alpins on my Mercedes for two seasons. They are great.

As above I've had Michelin Alpins on my 2003sti on 225/45/17 wheels for the last 2 years, and they are great.
