Got my rear discs through last week - they are zinc plated gold, which is OK, but would silver be better to match the AP's on the front?

Simon, the gold wears off almost immediately as mine lost their gold colour within about 10-15 minutes of driving.

Does that mean they go rusty like the OE items I am replacing? Or do you mean the gold coms off the actual disc itself?

Scott is correct and means both! The Zinc plating will waer off almost immediately where the pads grip it. Then the area where the zinc plating has been removed will corrode if you don't use the car for a few days.
