Default Brakes on 99 uk classic

The 4 pots on my car are ok but i feel they could do with some more bite. I am thinking that a disc and pad change and braided hoses might help. Any views on what are good , and also planing a brake fluid change. Should i keep dot 4 or upgrade to dot 5. Thanks

As above, speak to Ian at Godspeed.

You might also think of buying and fitting a brake cylinder brace, said to make the bite a bit harder.

Ian does the s/s pistons.

But he also does a big disc kit for those calipers, although you need 17's to clear them.

We aren't going anywhere

The pads we use in this kit are a modified Aston Martin pad so easily available

Cheers Ian

Hi
Discs are only available from us as we make them in house , but like I say , we are getting busier and busier so aren't going anywhere so there is no problem sourcing any parts for them
Cheers Ian

I would change it to dot 5.1 which is a high performance road car fluid , I use this in my rally cars to good effect , dot 5's are usually for race cars , and can damage the seals ect over long use
Cheers Ian

dot5 is a silicone based fluid more suited to classic cars, long-life military applications, etc.........

IMO it is NOT suited to road or arduous use

Ok many thanks, dot 5.1 it is then. Has anyone got good gains from uprated standard discs and pads, or is the big brake setup so much better.

Good gains can be had using Ian's discs and bluestuff pads, but, obviously, MUCH more can be had from larger discs.

Depends how much you want to spend and how quick you want to stop.
