Default Grooved discs query????

Bit of a long story but I`ll shorten it. People may remember my "spongy brakes" queries from before, but basically ever since fitting my new grooved discs I`ve had issues.

Now, the garage I use told me that it`s an issue with the grooves, pushing the caliper pistons away from the discs while driving and that`s why I always get a better `bite` on the 2nd pedal press

Anyone heard this or is it just `pubtalk`

Ps. I had to slam on earlier today so obviously just had the one press on the pedal.......I didn`t think I was gonna avoid the coffin dodger who cut me up

The garage are telling you porkies , grooves would never do that , it sounds like air in system , or you master cylinder not 100%

Cheers Ian

Hi Ian. I did wonder. Thing is, I`ve had the brakes bled and had new fluid in. I even tried one of those Tegiwa brake stoppers. It`s just odd that it always bites like it should every 2nd press

How long have the disks been on?, did you change pads at the same time?
Could be they are not bedded in yet, but if they are, and you are managing to "pump up" the brakes it's as Ian says, either some trapped air is being compressed, or the master cylinder could be passing fluid.

God it was ages ago mate and yes I did change the pads at the same time. This has been ongoing for months and months. If the cylinder was passing fluid I`d be topping up though

Not necessarily, as it just returns to the low pressure/reservoir side of the seal, you don't actually lose fluid.
