Default am confused about brakes, what is stopping me?

can someone take a look over these photos of my front and rear brake set up as i have no idea what i got apart from a rusty rear disc!? do i have 2 pot or 4 pot brakes because i don't really know the difference!

i've noticed sometimes that when braking, i get a squealing sort of sound from i think the drivers side front, is that a worn pad? but the noise isn't everytime i brake..

any such work/parts would have been done by previous owner, ideally i'd like them refurbished as not keen on the blue calipers (godspeed brakes replacement service looks good?) but i don't know what to go for how to change them over myself or what sort of setup am i able to fit under 18" invoit redlines, on a rb5?

edit: could it be rust? here are different pics of the front pic 2 and another less than useful view of the rear pic 2.

Looks like 4 pot fronts and 2 pot rears. That squealing sounds like a worn pad. Just get it apart or get it to someone to take a look. It's not hard to tell if the pad is worn.

You have 4 pot fronts, and single pot rears, they rear discs look knackered, so probably where the noise is coming from, pads are probably worn down.

is it worth trying to upgrade to 2 pot rears, what is the performance of the 1 pots like compared to the 2 pots?

Its a very worth while mod, greater breaking and a much better feeling brake peddle.

There are but you would have to get much better front brakes and there's not a lot of point for a road car. Plus is would cost a bomb.

oh so you have to generally have better brakes on the fronts than on the rears?

i think the rear 2 pots might have to do me if i can get a pair, emailed the guys at godspeed brakes to see what they can do for me.

Yeah they will fit. You'll need the 2 pot rear calipers, newage WRX rear discs(290mm) and a mounting bracket, available from many places.

I've got Hawkeye WRX 2 pot rears on the back of mine, and Hawkeye WRX 4 pot fronts, red from the factory.

Crap pic;

Yes mate, you don't want the rears braking harder than the front.

is this mounting bracket compatible with any newage or specific models of newage?
got a link to what I'm looking for? I take it everyone who has 2 pots on the rear has this same bracket setup?

the rear set I might be interested in but I'm looking to see if Godspeed brakes are able to refurb the calipers, might be even be interested in your fronts minus the calipers. how much are we talking?

edit: PM'd you.

NEVER buy second hand discs or pads, IMO. False economy. It's ok IF they haven't been used though.

Also, never buy anything away from the For Sale sections on here, like you're planning to do above.

Brackets for 2 pot rear calipers

Will allow fitment of all the newage 2 pots, not sure on Brembo 2 pots though.

IMO £100 quid is a fair price for a pair of 2 pot rear calipers, that's what I paid.
