Default New brakes - possible problems

Hi guys, I had a set of Tarox drilled & grooved discs and some EBC yellow pads fitted to te front of my Wrx 05.
I was expecting them to maybe be a bit poor at stopping from cold.
They have been run in , say about 1500miles now. But they are poor. I think I should have left the old ones on, they where worn but still had more stopping power than these.

Does it sound like a problem or am I just disappointed? Spent just over £400 on them so was expecting quite a bit to be honest.

Cheers, Paul
