Draining brake fluid

Opinions vary on brake fluid
I use AP DOT 5.1 some recommend Silkolene, etc
Don't drain the fluid as you risk getting air trapped in the line. Just drain a bit out (so you can still see it in the bottom of the reservoir, then carefully top up with your chosen fluid. Drian a bit more off again so you can just see it on the bottom of the reservoir and top up.
Keep doing it then go round and bleed all the brakes well, starting with the furthest from the reservoir.
You need to make sure you get all the old fluid out as they don't mix well. you need about a 1 litre of fluid (0.5l to fill the system and 0.5 for bleeding)
It takes a while to do it like this but it's the least risky for getting air in the system.
Hope that helps,
Iain.[/b]
