I currently have standard 4 pot calipers and brakes on the front, and standard disks and pads at the back, I dont have the money for disks yet, but i was thinking of changing the pads all round, what would be the best pad for me ?
Car is a uk 96 turbo.

 

If your car is a MY96 turbo, I doubt you have 4 pots on the front unless you have upgraded to them. Does it say Subaru in white on the side of the caliper (4 pots do)

I don't think it makes much difference what caliper you have the pad otions are the same. Just confusses the supplier if you say you've got 4 pots. Plus 2 pot pads are generally cheeper


Well opinions vary on pads, it depends who you talk to as to which is the best. Some pads work really well but leave the wheel dusty, others are more expensive.

Read up on:
Mintex 1144 or 1155,
EBC Greens or Reds (Reds recomended for Scoobs over Greens),
Ferodo DS2000/2500/3000,
Pagid Blue,
etc.

Most pads are around £100 a set for the front I know, but you pay for what you get!!!

I'm using Mintex 1155's which I have found to be much better than standard though they are a bit dusty and squeal a bit untill bedded in.

I had the 2 pots removed and replaced with 4 pots. As for pads I dont know where to start ?

Best option is to ring TSL 01159 377200 or Scoobysport 01268 590085 and discus your needs and budget with them

 

You could also try Friction Workshop for pads at good discounts they supply Ferodo & Pagid (01474 560031)

Forget Mintex 1155/1144 been trying those! & comapred to the Pagid 421's they are a poor performer....

Used mine on track & fast road & the Pagids are sensational......tried many others but none come close th the Pagid!!

 

HI pagid 42s best of all pads, as i have fried all ebc pads with in 200 to 800 miles saying that i can still get 42s to fade on twisty back roads were i stay think i wiil try there 14s next

EBC Greens work OK for me - smell disgusting after a good run to work -£65 front set MY97 2 pots - Never any problem getting enough braking to activate the ABS
