Default wheel spacers??

hi there.
loving my new scooby, and my first one to, why did i waut so long?
anyway, thinking off fitting some wheel spacers and was wondering if the fit straight on with no problems, i have a 2003 sti ppp so has brembo brakes and 225/40/18 prodrive wheels. was thinking about 10mm and do you really notice the difference? in look and feel?
thanks

What do you want the spacers for. Do you want to fit bigger brakes? There generally not a good idea as they puy extra load on bearings and suspension parts etc. Id only fit if there really needed to accomadate wheels or brakes

I cant comment on experience of 10mm spacers, but you ideally need hubcentric spacers and probably new studs as there wouldnt be a great deal left of them showing to bolt on the wheels securely.

I currently have front 4mm spacers on standard studs and I was in two minds whether to get some longer stoods or not, but have been re-assured that I should be ok.

As for the arches, if you lowered right down then you may need to look at getting the arches rolled, but again I cant comment from experience. Im lowered considerably and on the rears without spacers im quite close to the arches.

I suppose it also boils down to the offset of your wheels.

dont need them for any reason, but i saw a scooby with some fitted, i think and thought it looked real good, bit meaner. im not lowered at all. maybe should go for 4mm. do you notice this at all as 4mm dosent sound much?

I'm running with a set of dare drift alloys which will easily pass over K-sports, but im currently on Brembo's which are much deeper, as such I had to got with at least 3mm to allow for clearance. Im still relatively close, but they are fine.

If I was you I post a pic of your car, and let people judge for you. If you want a more agressive look I would consider changing the rims completly and getting a set of lowering springs or better still some coilovers where you can adjust to your liking.

As said, just by putting spacers on in my opinion wouldnt give the desired look you would like. Coilovers are the answer with a decent camber adjustment and lowered to your desire. Your looking at £300 +.

Decent hubsentric Spacers and Lowering springs would put you back a good few hundred so its not worth it, some will differ im sure.

Sorry to but in, but I have some Brembos to go on my car (Gran Tourismo's). My front studs have already been changed and so are much longer than the back ones. I also have coilovers and 18" alloy wheels.

Would I need spacers or would I be able to fit the Brembos and not worry about catching on anything?

As said before, sorry about the butting in

I don't know the make of the coilovers as they were on the car when I bought it. However, I do think that they do there job well and the car does handle pretty well for an estate lol

But be warned, some insurance companies sting you for playing about with the suspension But worth a look for the handleing

Depends on the offset, best trying the wheels once you have the brembos in place, you may need some spacing like i did. Most 18's do go over brembos without the need for spacers.

So spacers are really for just clearance when needed in those big brake situations then?

Yes and No. Obviously they are solutions to poor offset wheel/brake fittings, and should my wheels have gone over the brembos without touching I wouldnt have bothered with them at all.

However I have seen some cars with very deep hubcentrics and they look very well when the car is slammed, although the car isnt really practical imho.

Try a search on "hubcentric" on here, it might help you.
