Default pads for a 03 blob sti uk spec ppp

guys after some information whats the pads to go for? whats reasonable money wise, don't mind spending but want good pads and don't wear out quick, any suggestions?
at the moment they look like standard pads on the car but looking to upgrade as they're starting to look thin and will need replacing soon.

regards

Pads will depend on your driving style , if you use the car as a daily drive , and like to give it stick now and again , then the kevlar sport pads would be a good choice , we are offering these for £59 delivered for fronts , or £99 delivered for front and rears.

If you drive like a hard most of the time , or are going to do track days , then the Bluestuff NDX pads would be more suitable , these are a very good pad that works from cold , and will then take any abuse you can throw at them , but are quite a bit more , fronts are £154.44 and rears are £85.22 , the NDX have free delivery

Hope this helps , if you need any further info , ask away , or you can ring on 01656 723060

Cheers Ian

Last year I fitted EBC yellows front and back to my 2003 stippp, std discs BTW.
Very impressed with the stopping, no unusual noises and an easy fit.
I got mine from EBC direct and the price was very good.

Hi VJ,

Our Kevlar Fast Road pads would be a nice upgrade from standard pads. Improved bite and fade resistance whilst retaining nice everyday pad characteristics.

Aztec Performance - Kevlar Fast Road Pads STi Front Set
Rear Set - Kevlar Fast Road Pads STi Rear

Use the following discount code if buying front and rear to bring them down to just £99 delivered: 99-BREMBO-KEVLAR-SN-OFFER

Performance Friction Pads and EBC Bluestuff NDX also available

If you need further advice give us a call on 01462 600 241

another vote for performance friction. Brilliant for day to day and also lasted all day at Rockingham without any fade

Problem with the PFs are that they are a bit wooden when cold.
I found this OK when the only car I drove was my Subaru, as I got used to them, but now I drive (an over servo'd MR2) as well and I find the difference in cold performance bloody annoying to say the least, so am trying the Bluestuff.
Once warm (and on trackdays), I found the PF Z compound excellent and they are very good value for money ATM.

The ferodos are very good but very expensive.
I have bluestuff ndx on the front and red stuff on the back. I have been very impressed with this setup from cold and it held up very well on a track day too.

I agree that PFs do need warming up .... as for DS2500s .... I went away from them as I destroyed a set at a Castle Coombe track day leaving me with absolutely no material left on one pad leaving metal on metal on the disc ... hence the upgrade to PF Discs and pads .. and .. even if you only do day to day driving .. I found that the amount of brake dust from the DS2500s just too much for me ..

At the end of the day .. not sure there is ever a right or wrong choice ... just different ones each with their pros and cons ... so good luck with your selections

Thanks mate i'm glad a lot of people have given their experiences and advice on which pads to go for, as i'll be looking to upgrade in the next coming weeks, the brake dust may not be a problem as i have dark greyish wheels, but looking for decent pads for hot and cold, and not looking to use the car for track, just as a daily drive with driving hard now and again, so decisions!

thanks once again guys i'll look into it!!

There is another thread going somewhere which seems to suggest that the new EBC NDX Bluestuff are a very good all round 'fast road/occasional track' pad being much better in the cold and wet than the PF pad .. although at extremes the PF pad is better ... so maybe the 'blues' are worth a try ? Certainly they will be on my list for consideration when i next need a change ..

Going back to Ian Godney's post, I had discs and kevlar pads from him for my '05 WRX and was very impressed. Did some very hard driving through Wales and felt confident to late brake into hairpins etc. For normal road use you will never get anywhere the limits of them
