I`ve just changed the rear pads on one side of the car and realised I haven`t refitted these......do I need to?

Those are the anti squeal shims. If you've put enough copper grease on the back of the pads, you might be alright. But if the brakes start squeaking, You'll know why.

I wondered that, but shims (the ones supplied with pads) aren`t made of metal which eliminates the metal on metal scenario which causes squeaking. I`ve used the shims which came with the pads and also some copper grease some I assume it`ll be ok??

These are part of the shims, the ones you have put on have got a rubber or something coating, these just go over that, so probably aren't needed.

put them to one side and keep them safe as most pads will require them............

only the likes of EBC that have large padding on the back of the pads where you cant refit them
