Who said that drilled disks don't crack through the drill holes?

My Black Diamond drilled disks (5000 miles no appreciable wear, no lip on them) have cracked - THROUGH THE DRILL HOLES.
I wanted grooved ones but Falkland didn't have them and said drilled ones don't crack. Well they have after only one track day.
I think the Mintex 1155 pads are great and good value, and I only wore under half a pad.
Do grooved disks fare a lot better? Any suggestions?

John, the only units most likely NOT to crack are the Porsche disc. Because the holes are cast in. Most of these aftermarket discs are drilled and grooved after casting.
Grooved can also crack, but driller are most likely to suffer it.

It depends what you want them for.
It is unrealistic to expect cheap replacement discs, over-branded by some marketing company, to perform much better than the standard discs.
Pagid discs are good (ScoobySport) and so are the official Prodrive uprgrade discs for 16in wheels, made by Alcon and with turbine vanes to improve cooling. Better still are Godspeeds with alloys bells to prevent warping.
If you're a track day junkie, you may find that only the £1,500-plus brake upgrades will keep you happy (and safe)
Richard.
