What brake fluid on 03 wrx
i've just changed to 'millers racing fluid 300+', about £13 a bottle
if you don't know what's currently in it i'd be tempted to bleed all the old crap out and refill will the mentioned as i have just done. you'll need 2 bottles, takes about 1 and 1/2 bottle to fill.

those numbers mean nothing in reality without knowing exactly what product your talking about...........a high quality dot4 can be better than a cheap 5.1, and a lot of "race" spec fluids are dot4 at best anyhows............
whatever you do dont get confused with dot5 which is somthing totally different and best left for the classic guys IMO

The fluid the dealer use is DOT4. I don't know what make it is as I didn't buy it, but based on my dealer I'd be fairly confident it will be a good quality one.
5.1 wise, I'd assume the OP would search or ask for recommendations.
AP Racing would be an obvious choice.
However, I note that after bollocking me for not naming any products you've also failed to recommend any!
Given your expertise you're far better placed to do so than I, so please lets work together and help this guy, and perhaps take it a bit easier in future - I wasn't intending to mislead the OP.
Thanks.
you have totally misread me, i wasn't having a go at anyone/anything just simply pointing out that the 'dot' numbers mean little or nothing without quantifying what you are actually using................as an idea does anyone realise that the dot5.1 std is to cater for a specific requirement re ABS systems and is not aimed at the "performance" market just that a side effect means it generally has a higher temp ability that regualr dot4's??
e.g. a std Wurth dot4 is far better than a non-brand dot5.1 IMO, RBF600 is "only" dot4 but will outperform pretty much any dot5.1 in every area apart from longevity as its a "race" fluid.............
not sure i'm "allowed" to offer recomends and its poss a little cheeky?? BUT if they stay here then in "heat ability" order;
Wurth dot4 is the best basic/reasonably priced fluid and the min. std i would use
Motul dot5.1 next up and will cope with fast road/light track use for most people
Millers 300+ or Motul RBF600 for serious trackdays, high temp use - both dot4
Performance Friction RH665 ultimate dot4 fluid and outperforms Castrol SRF in our experience

Thanks also for the recommendations.
Got 500ml of Motul ordered as part of my K-Sport upgrade, so glad you haven't labelled as being god-awful
.Thanks Alyn.
