Subaru 4 Pots on 98 Wagon
Hi All,
I have a 98 Turbo 2000 Wagon and I've been contemplating upgrading the brakes for a while, thinking of starting off with the OE 4 Pot fronts and 2 Pot rears with the embossed 'SUBARU' text. Does anyone know if these are normal size calipers and will fit under my standard 16" rims? I have been reading about and know the Brembos normally only fit under 17" so wasn't sure if these may be the same.
Also, what is a fair price to pair for a full set? I've seen front only sets on eBay for anything from £100-£699!
Any help is most appreciated!
Thanks
Stiggy Joe

fronts will bolt straight on, rear's will need brackets, will fit 16'' rim's, larger disc's required....
have this done to my wagon you can just make out the calipers..

Are the brackets available to buy or am I going to have to manufacture something? Also what size discs will I need to step up too?
Figured it wouldn't be as straightforward as a simple swap over, but the 4 pots look better an no doubt stop better so I'm willing to put in the effort and cash.
Thanks!

I changed mine, doesnt take long really.I think the brackets (new for the rears) are about £50.
As for the price,I paid £120 for (fronts only) discs, pads and braided hoses, but they did need a lick of paint.
I'd have a word with Ian Godney at Godspeed. I think he makes the brackets.
If you get the calipers, either get the discs with them, or if they are no good, get new ones to match. Ian sells those too and knows the sizes.
And yes, they will go under 16" wheels.

Awesome! As always thanks for the help, I guess this is the easy bit...hard bit is finding all the bits I want!
I shall definitely hit up Mr. Godney, while doing some searches his name flashed up a lot!
Thanks guys!!

As mentioned the fronts are a straight fit when used with 294mm discs (from newage wrx or late uk turbo200) and correct pads. Be wary of calipers with seized pistons, theres a lot of them out there. All the bits can be bought for a refurb.
Rears require a bracket on (right in picture) and 290mm discs from a newage wrx.

I put 4 pots on my 97 wagon, left the floating single pots on the rear tho!!!
Will upgrade them ar some stage but rear discs are new enough and only just put new pads on them so will wait till at least pads are done then upgrade!!!!
Gretts, cars lookin well man!!!
Catch ya soon fella

That is spot on! Thanks for the extra info...looking around the kits to refurb aren't too much so I might keep my eye out for a cheap semi dead set and just rebuild them...it's not like I need to swap them out right this minute so a lil prep time and a bargain is all good.
I guess the tricky bit to find might be the bracket, but I shall see if Godspeed are able to supply these...and now I know exactly what size discs to get I suppose it's now time to decide if OE or nice shiny aftermarket ones are in order.
Thanks again guys!!

He does, and there is a fella on eBay that does them too. Just search 'subaru two pot bracket'.

Try these eBay links fella

Ok, I'm now all clued up on what discs I need how to fit change and all the fun stuff...now I'm just working out money and trawling eBay for parts.
However, I have hit another dilema...braided hoses...
I was thinking of upgrading to these anyway so figure why not do it all at once (last MOT brake hoses was an advisory anyway so they're due), but does anyone know what ones I'd need? obviously I have a 98 wagon, but upgrading calipers will mean they're off an 01 onwards...would I need hoses for a 01 or a 98? I'm guessung 98 for length and blah, blah, blah but thought the fitment for calipers could be different?
Also, how easy is replacing/swapping the hoses?
Sorry to be a right pain in the *** but I have minimum technical know how and want to learn and save myself some ridiculous garage fees when it shouldn't be that hard of a job.
Thanks in advance (again)

Not to worry, a nice lazy Saturday watching F1 Qualy has helped my to find out my answer...for anyone follwing this thread or using it via search I found my answer here:

Bugeye brake hoses are what you want. I assume they'll be slightly longer on the rear to compensate for the caliper being further away from the hub
(my rear calipers use standard classic hoses and the rears only just reach) afaik they all have the same fittings regardless of model.

The hose lengths and fittings are all the same , the only difference between the classic and the 2001 onwards sti and wrx hoses is the way the front hose connects to the strut , the classic is held in place with a clip , the 2001 onwards model is bolted to the strut ,
The standard classic hoses , and a classic fitment braided hose kit will fit the WRX 2 pots and the brembo's
Cheers Ian

Blu-Scoob, what discs are these? Were they from Godspeed?
Mr Godney, do you do dimpled and grooved discs in 290mm for 2 pots and 294 for 4 pots? I had a browse through your site but was only able to find grooved for rear and grooved & drilled for front.
I like the way these look and wondered how much they are so I can plan all my budgeting...I'm hoping by July/August to have everything I need (pads, calipers, discs, and hoses) or at least the money for it all.
Thanks, sorry if I seem like I'm asking too many questions or wasting time but I want my car to be as perfect as I can get it...
