Default 08 wrx brakes

i recently bought a 08 plate wrx ,brakes are shockingly bad they scare me im a hard road driver and drive with one hand on the hand brake to pull her up more ,had a 20,000 mile service at 12,000 as had no history with it and was told on next service need new pads and discs all round and was qouted a grand for standard stuff. can some one pls give me some advice

Learn be less dependent on the brakes, be smooth and be quick...

But seriously, few have messed with the hatch, so not much info to go on...

Are they fitted with Subaru 4-pots ? See Godspeed for a brake upgrade...

no they aren't fitted with 4pots they have a generic sliding 2pot caliper set-up that is also used on various Legacy/Forester/etc.............

Isn't a WRX hatch quite a nippy road car ? Bad Subaru...

2pot WTF? 4pot are shockingly bad i cant imagine how bad 2pot are. change them on ksport asap

yea looks like they went cheapoo on the brakes on this model,would i be right in thinking that the hatch is not rated in the scooby world

Agreed. Going back to their old ways (ie older classics)

Four pots with decent disc/pad combo and no seized pistons are really good, however 2pots really are shocking, especially on a performance car.

My first classic '97 was really poorly braked, but I would expect a 2.5 WRX to be way quicker, and a bit heavier too !
