Do you really need to ask that question,

Never scrimp on tyres. It's the only thing keeping you on the road. Buy the best you can afford.

Ps: The correct size for a classic is 215/40/17

as above

buy the best you can afford fella, there are plenty of reviews/forums around the internet do a little/lot of research and price match accross

by the way, never settle for the first fitted tyre quote you get fella i have had amounts varying by as much as £70-£80 each tyre on the same make and model

I've been running budget for a while, as it goes they actually haven't been that bad for me, i can't wait to get decent tyres and see the difference in handling.

Thanks
Sam

TBH in summer it isn't so bad, but I bought a pair for the winter, and was safer on 2mm of worn Yokohama...

Did a day on a rallycross circuit and they emerged virtually unmarked ( concrete ! )

Not advised IMHO.

What sort of tread depth is left on the fronts?
You are supposed to change both front and rear at once on a 4wd car.

Provided that the other set aren't on the limit (which you'd be chnging anyway) theres no problem with changing just the fronts or the rears.
