Not a MOT failure and tbho given the cost to renew i wouldn't bother as it doesn't really do anything other than stop road debris getting at the brakes but it's only a small hole ans won't cause any problems at all mate.

Is that the disc backing plate?

If so, either ignore it, or remove it.

Mine runs without and has done since I fitted STi Brembos to my car.

They are just the stone guards , not the actual backing plate , they are very thin steel , just grind through the 8 or so spot welds and remove it ,
Very easy to do , and needs doing if your changing to rear brembo's anyway
Cheers Ian

Mine DID have the single pot sliding rears. It now has STiBrembos.

And as Ian says, 8 spot welds, a sharp drill, a wire brush, a tin of Black Hammerite and Robert is your mother's brother.
