Brake upgrade advise pls
I have 99 classic and want to upgrade the brakes before I put the horses up.
I don't wanna be spending £££££££ on doing so!
Can anyone advise me on what route to go down?
Thanks in advance and appologies for any delayed responses as threading from my iPhone.

To be honest I just want something that's gonna stop the car! I'm already running 275bhp and I'm on edge with the brakes that are fitted as standard. 4 pots on the front and singles on the rear. My next step is to put a vf34 and map to roughly the 320 mark so need it to be safe on the brakes!

Wel depending in the condition of your 4 pots if they are in good order some upgraded discs and pads would be a good improvement and be in the region of £150-£200 for black diamond I can supply.
Or you could buy brembos which your looking around £750 for full set sometimes you can drop lucky for less. ( just make sure threads are ok on caliper mounting holes )
Or aftermarket for k-Sports etc various options
Depends on your budget.
Upgrading to 2 pot rears is also an option and I can supply those as well fully reconditioned done in a colour of your choice.

Ok thanks for the advise!
I'm kinda looking for someone to say grab a second hand set (fronts and rears) off a ?????? Impreza or such like thus saving me the cost of a new set.
I think the 4pots on the front should do the job as long as they are in good condition and as you say a good set of discs n pads will improve their performance and maybe some braided hoses. I think maybe the same for the rears but upgrade to 2pots??

Godspeed or Aztec performance on here do a special deal on uprated front discs and pads for around the £100 mark.
However i still struggled too stop quick with aztec discs and pads and freshly reconditioned front 4 pots with 350bhp, so thats why i've upgraded to AP Racing 330mm front brakes.
The front 4 pots and uprated discs where mint until i pushed the car past 300bhp, but i do like to be able too stop quick ;-)
My advice would be to get some uprated discs and pads, run with them for as long as it takes you too save up for some better front brakes, you'll be able to sell them to fund your new brakes.
you might find that they stop you quick enough though.

no offence but pads and discs at £100 all in are not going to be "uprated" to any extent...........they may well be fine for mild fast road use but unlikely to be suitable for proper fast/trackday work
a good set of front pads would blast that budget for starters
what is your budget?? as this will give an easier time to recomend something suitable

MadHammer on here (Clive) has my old Godspeed 4 pot calipers with new rotors & pads. He's asking £400 for them. They will easily stop you. I only sold them because I upgraded to AP's also.
Worth a pm to him.

Thanks for all the input guys, mucho appreciate!
Had a look on Godspeed web site and found the rear conversion kit for 2 pots but nowt for converting my fronts utilising my four pots. That's definately the route I wanna go down tho. Will email them and see what they can do!
