Default Been seriously ripped off do I stand a chance?

Had my brake discs and pads changed by a mechanic in Harlow. Ever since every time I brake the pedal shudders and the cars groans. Took it to a garage and was told the pads are 90% worn so unless I brake every 2 seconds they are defo not new! He said the abs sensor has been knocked out of alignment thats what's making the noise. The original mechanic also repaired my other halfs van. But when we sold it on Sunday the buyer phoned us ten mins later to say the gearbox had gone! The aa man said the 'newly fitted' clutch had not been fitted correctly therefore destroying the brand new gearbox! Thus leaving me out of pocket as well as a very angry Scotsman who bought the van. When I finally got in touch with the mechanic using a different number as he kept hanging up on me, he told me it's nothing to do with him and when I said I'd be complaining to trading standards he told me to try and find him! This is two vehicles damaged, us seriously out of pocket and an angry scotsman! What can I do to make this ar**hole pay?? Or am I just hitting my head against a brick wall??

Small claims court, use your independent expert witnesses and take him to the cleaners

I've got the company name numbers etc was cash but with all signed receipts and invoice with signature. Was thinking small claims as in total with the money I've spent and will now need to spend to rectify all damage to both cars is nearly £2000

The best thing is I have the guy who checked the scoob at a local highly regarded garage, the aa guy for the van and also the scotsman brought an mot guy with him so three people can 'vouch' me. Plus an independent mechanic my other half called out yesterday that says the clutch and gearbox never needed changing in the van it was a wheel bearing that was the real culprit originally!! Will call trading standards and look into small claims as this is gonna be really difficult for me to forget and walk away from

Keep a record of all the inconvenience and time it takes you and then claim for redress on top of what you've lost out on.

Thats what my other half is doing. Cost of loss of insurance for the van sitting there etc. Nice to have some support. Just thought I can't let him get away with it and do it to someone else.
Found out today he keeps changing the location of his yard and his phone numbers so looks dodgy already.

seems strange that a shot wheel bearing could be mistaken for clutch and gearbox.....

Thats what we thought! Ended up buying a new gearbox which wasn't even needed in the end. It's giving me serious headaches but won't let it drop. It's so wrong that people can get away with this. What if it was me and my kids in the van when it broke and caused a serious crash...just not right.
