Best brake fluid...opinions please
#1
I'm coming up to my 24 month service when I believe they change the brake fluid.
I have standard MY00 brakes and was wondering wether it is worth upgrading from the standard Subaru fluid to something a bit more hi-tech.
Cheers.

All depends on the type of driving you do really..
The Silkolene Race fluid seems to be a popular option, as it has a very high boiling temperature.
The trade off with these higher spec fluids is that you have to change them more often, i.e. every 12 months, as they are more susceptable(sp?) to taking on water.

For the reason that the silicone - fluids take up so much water I have heard that they are not good for a roadcar. The water in the fluid will boil and after a while you have no effect of the better fluid.
I think AP DOT 5.1 is a good option.
