Default tyre sizes best make etc

hi all finally started on getting the Sti back on the road and have some 17 wheels I'm having refurbed what is the best tyre size they currently have 215 40 17 is this the best size for a classic or would you go wider also have always used toyo or Dunlop sport would you recommend sticking with these or any other good Tyres that use thanks

215/40/17 or 205/45/17, no wider or your going to be rubbing the arches.
As for the best tyre, its really what you like but I wouldnt run toyo on a scoob, look more towards vredstein sessanta's which are very well priced

Do the sessantas come in these sizes? I would definitely go with them if possible but size options may be restrictive.

Michelin Eagle F1 but you get similar performance from the sessantas and they cost quite a bit less.

^ Sessantas do come in classic sizes 215/40/17 and in newage 215/45/17.

I like the sessantas very much as well as Toyo T1R's.
