Default Bleedin' Brakes

I have just changed my brake pads and decided to drain/change the hydraulic brake fluid (2.0L GL 1998 - Non turbo_
I am now having trouble getting the pressure on the brake pedal, it was fine before!.
I'm pretty sure all the air is out out the system, is there something else I need to do to get the pressure up?
Help welcomed

Did you close the nipple before releasing the brake pedal when bleeding them to stop air from being sucked back in?
