Hawkeye rear discs
Looking for some forward thinking help on this.
I will be ordering new brakes shortly but have a question regarding the rear discs on my hawkeye.
Does the handbrake use the middle of the rear disc?
On my previous newish cars I have had to wind back the rear caliper with a tool in order to get new pads on the back. Is this required with the Subaru or do the pistons simply push back as they do with the fronts?
Is it just case of jacking up the car and then releasing the handbrake in order to get the disc off without any issues with the handbrake?
Just do not want to give myself some issues and want to make sure I have everyting I need before ordering the goods and getting down to fit them.
Appreciate any help.
Thanks
Michael

Hi
Yes the handbrake is in the drum in the centre of the discs , and the calipers work off the brake pedal , so you dont need a wind back tool , you just push the pistons back in.
With your age car , the discs should just pull off after you have removed the calipers , if not you may have to loosen off the handbrake , there is a rubber grommet on the backplate under the driveshaft , remove this grommet and undo the adjuster wheel to slacken off the handbrake shoes , and adjust it back up once you have fitted the new discs.
It is very simple to do.
If you are looking to buy discs we can offer you some good deals on various specs to suit your driving style
