They do wrk, but you may not have enough clearance between wheel and discs, and, they don't let air into the front of the wheel, so therefore you get even hotter brakes than you would normally.

cheers Ron, do you still get some crud on the wheels or do they really work well ?

I'd be more worried about overheating the brakes than keeping wheels clean - depends how you drive I suppose.....
Try washing your wheels then waxing them using normal car wax - that helps stop the brake dust sticking.

My mate used some of these brake covers a while back, resulting in the brakes overheating due to lack of air to cool them down. The disks warped because they got too hot.
id rather spend 10 minutes cleaning them everyday
