Question

Hi
I currently have the Prodrive 17' 10 spoke rims on my scoob. And they come with that unusual 205/45 ZR17 tyre size. Currently fitted with Pirelli PIs. I need new tyres quick. I can only find Pirelli P1s in 205/45 ZR17 and don't want another set.

I really want different tyres. Goodyear F1/Toyo's/Bridgestone's.
If I change my tyre size to 205/40 ZR17 I will probably have more chance of finding one of the above alternatives.

However will changing my tyre size from 205/45 ZR17 to 205/40 ZR17 be a bad thing - will this effect my speedo readings and generaly screw things up??

Thanks
Cheers
steve

Steve,

Most people go for 215/40 ZR 17 - these are available in a wide range of alternatives (Bridgestone, Goodyear, Toyo, etc.) and the rolling diameter is very similar.

Cheers,

Ian.

Question

So Ian
Is it because that the rolling diameter is only slightly different that it doesn't have any bad effect?

After a quick search more info can be found here:-

You'll have no probs with 215/40 17 - I'm running SO2s in that size on my MY00 at the moment.

Cheers,

Ian.

Have a look at my thread (16" - 17") - there's a tyre size calculator on there so you can compare sizes,

Nick.
