Thoughts on possible replacement tyres
Looking to get some new replacement tyres for the Scooby and from reading some reviews, and comments on here narrowed it down to the following:
1) Vredestein Sessanta Ultrac
2) Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric
3) Bridgestone Potenza RE050
My main requirements are good all round grip and wear but probably more importantly low road noise as I do quite a bit of motorway travelling. No track days!
The reason the Bridgestones are on the list is that we have them fitted on the wifes Alfa GT and have experienced excellent grip and unbelievable wear rates (rears are just wanting replacing now after 28k, fronts did 20k).
Anyone have experiences of any of these tyres in the snow last year as apparently we are in for a similar winter again!
Also noticed that the new Continental Contisportcontact 5P are getting really good reviews.
Thoughts please?

i,m on my second set of pirelli p zero nero, a very good tyre in all conditions and last realy well. when pushing on they let you know whats going on without breaking away.also very light. i thought about vreds but not keen on the look of the tread pattern lol
i personally would touch bridgestones with a bargepole, too hard and unpredictable.... save your cash and get some Kumho KU31's, they lasted longer than the bridgestones and heated up better for spirited driving.
I have tried the Yoko AD08's and they are out of this world, £125each too so not too expensive

I think I will give them a go next as they are not too pricey from Camskill.
Come in 235/45/17, but not 225/45/17.
I have Goodyear Assyms and Brigestone 070s at the moment.(2 sets of wheels)
Assyms are pretty good, but things seem to move pretty quickly in the tyre world.
The Conti 5 P look similar to the Assyms which in turn look to be based on the venerable Michelin PS2. Pretty good lineage I think.
Depending how much tread you have left .. given the time of year ... I'd hang on a month or so if I could and put a set of Winter Tyres on as they are designed to work better in temps of 7 degrees and below I believe ..
As for your listed choices .. I've had both the Sessantas and the Goodyears .. both excellent tyres .. but I'll be continuing with the Goodyears when I next have to replace them ... probably mid next year .. despite them being a little noisier as they just seem to have that edge overall .. although not through deep puddles in corners
Dont know about the RE050s sorry ..... although RE070s are on my spare set of rims

re050s are pants, get yourself some continental sport contact 3s part worns for around £30 a corner, very good in both wet and dry.
re070s are great in the dry but not so much fun in the wet! also rare as to get part worns for so if you are buying new, go for the Vreddies, part worn, go for the contis

I had bridgestone re50 on my wrx not to bad, have re070 now on my sti they are superb, but don't think they will serve well in the winter am considering a cheap spare set of wheels for the winter and try to find some part worn winter tyres, as if same as last year I don't fancy driving on the re070 tyres. They are excellent in the dry, had no issues in the wet, but seem a little skittish in halfway, slightly damp roads. But maybe thats the grease on the road as well. But will defo replace them with the same for summer use.
