Default what rear brakes with k-sport fronts

I'm currently running a 330mm k-sport kit at the front, but standard brakes at the rear. The rear pads are down to 2mm now, so I think it's about time I change pads.

The car is a 2003 WRX and I'm mainly concerned about braking on track.

Front pads are DS2500's at the moment, and I only have good things to say about them, but the car feels a bit unbalanced with the back end feeling a bit floaty due to (I'm guessing) the rear brakes not working as well as the front ones.

Are there any options for fitting a larger rear kit which doesn't cost as much as getting a rear k-sport kit (i'm a bit unsure about running the same size rear discs anyway - seems that might give *too* much breaking for the rears?)

Alternatively, should I just stick a set of DS2500 pads in the back for now? The standard OEM rear discs are fine at the moment.

Is it possible to fit bug+blob STI rears (with the 5x100 PCD), or does that cause problems with the hand brake even on new age wrx's?

I would try running the same pads at the back.

Rear Brembo setup would be a step up and is what I planned on doing on mine. Have got all the bits needed to fit, if interested just PM me.

you'll get a pretty well balanced car with an STi type rear end.........although as you mention you'll have to sort either o/size shoes or the correct BREMBO sleeved discs to sort the h/brake

a decent set of pads as a cheap option will certainly help in the interim

Oh, do you mean everything "will fit and work" if I get STI calipers and STI discs? Or is that "sleeved" disc something else?

And also, how much is a set of DS2500's for the rear from yourself? I couldn't find the subaru rears on your site.

the STi runs an oversize 190mm h/brake assembly, the WRX the std 170mm...........

BREMBO do an aftermarket conversion disc that is "sleeved" so that it has the correct h/braake to suit the WRX whilst allowing you to bolt the STi caliper on, or you fit a std STi disc and fit over-size h/brake shoes that are available from a few people incl. Ian at Godspeed and ourselves...........

as for pricing its not something i should get into on here but feel free to drop a PM or email and i'll sort

As above , I would fit the STi rear brembo's to your car as that would bring it in line with the fronts you have fitted , the sti rear brakes will all bolt straight onto your car , the only issue is the handbrake size.

As an idea , I can supply you grooved 316mm discs , thicker handbrake shoes and Ferodo DS2500 pads for £330 delivered , all you would need are the Brembo calipers then which you should be able to pick up for around £150-£200 a pair , you should be able to get this back by selling on your existing 2 pot calipers and discs to a classic owner

I have discs , shoes and pads in stock

Hope this helps

Cheers Ian

Just to update this thread. I fitted a set of bluestuff ndx pads at the rear before going on track yesterday, and braking was noticeably better. The car felt flatter under braking and it wasnt squirming around at the rear like before.

All in all, i'm very happy with the way the car performed.

Do you do bluestuff pads for the k-sports as well, then?

And if yes, can you skim my brake discs? I've got some pad deposits on the front ones which I need to have skimmed off...
