Default Help / Advice with squeeky brakes please

Not being too mechanically minded with brakes so need pointing in the right direction so I can generally know what to expect when I go to the garage!

Standard 2007 Hawkeye WRX with standard OE brake calipers and discs.

When I apply light pressure to the brakes I get a slight squeeking/squeeling noise. Doesnt happen if I press the brakes again with the same pressure or generally at all with heavy pressure. But if I dont use the brakes again for a few miles and repeat they can squeek again. Appears to be coming from the fronts.

Car has done 15k miles and I guess they may well be the original pads. Discs generally look OK

Is this a sign that I need new pads or could it possibly be cured with copper grease? What min thickness should the pad be and where do I measure or can I measure with the wheels on?

Thanks in advance

you'll struggle with the wheels on..............
could quite possibly be simply the pads are sticking in the caliper, they are put together dry in the factory and often never stripped/checked by the dealer so may likely need a simple strip and clean
