Unhappy

I,m wondering if anyone has experienced a strong vibration through the steering wheel and foot pedal when braking - even at low speed. Standard UK Turbo MY-98 - first impression was warped discs, changed those today (Pagid dics & pads) no difference? Also had to replace N/S front tyre, which was worn through to the metal on the very inside edge - about an inch of wear - weird! £119 a tyre 205/50/16 viking pro tech 500 - don't want to shell out on too many of those if I can help it - anyone help?

Could be a few things.

The most likely is a the front N/S wheel bearing. With the car jacked up, hold tyre/wheel at 12 and 6 o'clock and try to rock the wheel to and fro. There should be no significant movement if the bearings are ok.

Other possibilties:

Worn front anti-roll bar bushes.
Worn steering rack (unlikely).

I know all this because I had a similar problem with my MY98 but fortunately was cured by new discs.
