Default Wider Rims

I've been looking at getting some nice new 17" rims for the scoob...however I don't know what width to get, 8 or 9"?

What are the differences in the two? Is there any benefit or disadvantage to having wider rims, or do they just put unecessary strain on the drivetrain?

Any help would be appreciated, I've seen pics of cars with wide rims and they look awesome, but as it's an everyday car I don't want to put something on that will just be more trouble thatn it's worth.

Thanks

Stig

Default

17x7 or 17x7.5 are the normal widths 17x8 is ok but 17x9 would need some workings to fit on there
