Rear brake sticking on? Urgent help please :)?
Hi guys, i got home last night from a 20 mile drive with no heavy braking and my rear drivers side brake was far too hot and smelling of brakes!
Obviously it had been stuck on?
What are the usual causes of this and fixes?
My mate seems to think a new caliper will be in order?
If so should i get the RAC out to check it before driving it somewhere, or will it be ok for now to drive it to say the scoobyclinic? (10 miles from me)
I could do with it fixing asap is the only problem, as always!
Cheers for any help
Tom

It depends how badly it's stuck, I personally wouldn't drive it 10 miles as a binding brake can effect the handling, especially if you have to brake hard in an emergency.
It's probably either a stuck piston in the caliper, or it could be the handbrake mechanism inside the drum (less likely). Neither are difficult or expensive to fix, but if you're not confident working on brakes then get a garage to have a look.
