noticed last night a brake smell, on closer inspection this am, i found that the drivers front wheel won't run free it moves ok but won't spin, i assume that the caliper is sticking on a bit, do i need a repair kit or just remove the sliders and rub them up with some emery cloth and re-grease with copper slip?

Give them a dismantle/clean first and see if the pistons can be pushed back freely.
