Default Kumho tyres any good?

I went to my local tyre shop to get a set of Falkens fk452s but they were out of stock.
Tried to sell me a set of Kumhos and said they were actually better than the Falkens?!

I used to run Kumhos on my old car and they were always sold to me as "budget" tyres.

Have they improved in the last 5 years then?
Are they better than Falkens?

I had Kumho's on my Jeep and they were great.

So it depends I suppose on the exact tyre and car combination and the use and what your expectations of the tyre are.

Never got on with them myself. Found them a bit quick to give up in the wet on my Clio 16v, just like the Nankangs they replaced. Sold them on and replaced them with Goodyears and the car was much better.

On Scoobs I have tried

Coopers, seemed ok but was my first Scoob and wasn't used to the grip the car exhibits with better tyres.
Federals, so noisy that i was convinced I had a wheel bearing gone, and slippy in the wet
Toyo T1R, good but wore out quick
Eagle F1 GSD3, my favorite budget performance tyre on the Scoob, lacks the feel in the dry of the Toyo, but hangs on in there in the wet.

There are better tyres but the law of diminishing returns sets in above the £70 mark IMHO
