Angry **Urgent help required please**

I need to remove these locking wheel nuts but have lost the security nut and have no idea who they are made by so can't contact the vendor to try and purchase a replacement...any idea on either the manufacturer or how to remove them would be gratefully received. Already tried welding a nut on but the offset means you don't really have room so the weld breaks

thanks in advance
Ian

Try a decent tyre place, they do this sort of thing all the time. I'd take my V5 with me though.........

Can you not chisel them off ? They look as though they have a good recess to get a chisel to sit on.

Drill through it into the stud with ever bigger dril bits till you dril out the stud. Careful to keep it centered so as not to touch the wheel. New studs are cheap and easy to put back in but be sure not to use the wheel to tighten the stub back in place, use a bunch of washers or something. They need mucho torque.

Maybe?

Thanks for the suggestions so far gents...but you can't chisel the outer ring off, there's too much meat on it. Drilling the stud(s) out is last resort option as it'll take sooo long to do.

Difficult to see from the pic is the locker is recessed about 7mm within the wheel so can't get a welding torch in close enough and there's not enough room between the outer ring of the locker and wheel to get anything around the outside of it.

Only idea I have is to take a mould and get a new key machined to fit.

If I was doing it , I would try first to put a notch in the outer part , and then with a blunt piece of bar , hit it undone to see if you can spin it , try it in 2 places 180 degrees apart , I have had to this on a few occasions and have rarely been beaten.

If it didn't move , I would weld a 14mm bolt onto the wheel nut , the wheel nut looks a larger diameter , so you should have a step in size between the two to get at and weld together , welding a bolt on may damage the paint around the hole in the wheel though

Good luck !

Cheers Ian

phone the rac or aa if your a member, dont forget to let tyre down or get your missus to do it and tell them she's on her own and its dark (super fast reponse)

or as said ring you local tyre fitter and ask if he can do it, may only cost a few £ for his beer fund but will save you a lot of hassle

I had exactly the same problem, lost my locking nut to the original subaru nuts. Went to a local garage and they just hammered something onto it and managed to take them off. Didnt damage the nuts as it went around the outside of the nut if you get me. £20 wasnt too bad I didnt think

that's going to best almost last resort as I'd like to ensure the alloys aren't damaged...so a manufacturer is what I'm really after

Looking at the nut there are 2 points almost at 180 deg. Couldn't you grind down a bit of flat bar to fit into them? Just hope that they'e not been done up with an air gun.
