fitting rear pads....
Hello,
I am sure this is already a post somewhere on here, but Im unable to find it.
Yesterday i noticed that there was a slight metal binding on the rear n/s. Having inspected the brakes briefly in the dark last night i would say the brake pads are worn almost completly.
As my Scooby is a mini project and i dont want to spend any money on the current brakes i would prefer to just replace the current pads on the rear although the discs appear to be in need of replacing soon. Is there a Manual on here with step by step instruction of how to replace the rear pads??
My guess is 2 bolts, calipers off, pads out, G clamp in place, undo nipple, squeeze the piston in, lock nipple off, fit new pads & rebolt back together?
Reason im after a quick fix rather than doing the job thoroughly is because I have recently bought a complete set of refurbished by godspeed Brembos inc discs and pads and this is soon to be on the cards I think .
However due to me considering selling the car im tempted to sell the brembos seperatly, and also sell the car in the summer to fund a new project.
Hope someone can help...
thanks
Rob

Hi Rob
Changing the rear pads of a UK300 is very easy and you dont need to remove the calipers , there are 2 pins holding the pads in the calipers , the pins are held in place with thin metal wire clips , just remove these and the pads will just pull out , I would fit a screwdriver or similar between the old pad and disc to push the piston back into the caliper , just do one pad at a time , if the pistons are sticking then it would need looking at long term , but if your changing to the brembo's then not really a worry for you.
The pads you have fitted now have metal scrapers on them , as they wear they come into contact with the disc causing the noise ,
Hope this helps
Cheers Ian

Cheers Ian, I guess it was you guys that did the refurb .
So to clarify, the MY01-02 Uk300 Caliper does not need to come off and pushing the piston back in is normally relatively simple and there is no need to undo the resovoir lid or undo and bleed nipples?
Might try and get this done this afternoon along with fitting a mates bathroom .
As for the Brembo's, you guys must have refurb these as i have receipt. What is the going sale price for these, just wondering if i should sell these and upgrade my current brakes or to fit them if it adds substantial value to the car. Like i said i will likely sell the car in the summer to start over on something else.
Front & Rear calipers, painted in Black, not even unpacked since you refurb them
Used Discs that you guys looked at that are fine
New pads all round
Thanks
Rob
