I use Pagid Blue pads in my 03 WRX, standard discs also. Good bite and work well but they are expensive. I got my most recent set from Alyn at AS Performance and are in my bedroom for later this year when i need em! LOL.
Better discs would also help if required. DBA discs, Black Diamond, something like that.
As you already know there are loads of aftermarket stuff you can get.
the Pagid pads though will make a difference for sure.

These work well for normal to fast road use :AZTEC PERFORMANCE ONLINE STORE - WHOLESALE PRICES DIRECT TO THE PUBLIC - Brakes :: Subaru Impreza :: Uprated Grooved Discs & Pads :: Kevlar Fast Road Pads - Subaru Impreza Turbo (inc WRX, UK, Type R etc) 4 Pot Caliper 1998-2007

Next ones up will be Mintex 1155s, Ferodo DS2500s, Pagid Blues etc.

Better discs will help stop glazing.
