Default hydraulic handbrake

hi folks.

Any one have any experience with an hydraulic handbrake? How does it work with ABS? Does it not put a extreme loading on the rear shafts, diff & propshaft?

My thinking is that locking up the rears at 20,30 or 40mph must be sore on the front diff/gearbox. It cant be good? Can it?

This is for a rally car.

Cheers

You really need the dccd to fit a hydraulic handbrake , with a microswitch opening the diff when operating the handbrake , if you use one with a viscous centre diff you will end up wearing the diff out. if fitted right it wont put any strain on the rest of the car , well no more than rallying does !

I'm i the middle of fitting one in my car now , never needed one up till now doing gravel events , but the standard handbrake wont lock on tarmac with sticky tyres

I was told the diff opened when the handbrake engages anyway? Surely you could just use the same switch if so.

I presume a hydraulic plumbs into the standard calipers? Since I changed to brembo's with a fitting kit, by handbrake has not been good, and I do need it for one corner of a local event.

On a standard impreza with a dccd , the handbrake wont open the diff up , I have a Neetronics diff controller that does it.
