I can't tell, from memory, normal profile for 15" tyres, but generally you'd want as narrow tyres as possible for your winter tyres.
SO. 215 sounds unnecessarily wide. 185/195 works better on snow/ice, even on wet tarmac. And are usually cheaper too!
(But a new 215 is probably much better than an 7 years old 185...)

Correct fitments would be 195x60x15, 205x55x16 etc and I would go for a XL rated tyre as the side walls are stiffer. The non XL rated tyres make the steering feel incredibly vague.
I can highly recommend the Nokian WR G2's. Have used over the last few year in this order (newest first and all XL rated) Nokian WR G2's, Nokian WR's, Goodyear UltraGrip Performance, Vredestein WinTrac & Michelin Pilot Alpin. I rate the Nokian WR G2 as the best so far.
