Anyone run these pads on track days?

How did you find them?

I have a set of AP 6 pots (7040 caliper) and will be looking to replace the pads very soon.
Did a track day a while ago, and wasn't filled with confidence.
They didn't fade, but didn't inspire me with the confidence my Carbotech's did.

I'd rather go for the DS2500's, as the Carbotech's are doudle the price, but would be very grateful for feedback from people who have used the DS2500's on track.

I have spent the last 3 years racing my scoob with the ap sixpots and DS2500 pads and through a 20 min race they would fade very little.

car is light though.

I might try the 3000 next

 

The DS3000's were an option, but i heard they eat discs like a fatman eats cake!!!

 

ds3000 destroy discs
ds2500 ok but not really a track pad.. more a fast road pad
Pagids are **** - all varieties
Carbotechs have not tried but here positive things
I'm told by many to try performance friction - next on my list

Edited to say the DS2500's are probably ok on Track if your car has less than 400bhp... above that forget it..... and I'm very hard on the brakes... I have to do a soft brake and then a hard brake into corners... I used to do hard on but this was destroying the discs so had to change my driving style

 

I runt he ds2500's on my track days and they do the job. Im not massivly hard on the brakes and they are not 100% perfect. But certainly good enough for track days and relativly cheap!.

My bro ran Carbotech XP10's on his EVO 4 and he loved them.

 

DS2500s won't do too well unless you're faily gentle with them. I'd avoid DS3000 unless you don't care about your wheels, or about the paint up the side of the car.

The carbotech are an excellent choice, but quite expensive.

I'd probs go for Mintex 1155 (an old compound now, but does exactly what its designed to do) or Pagid Blue. Avoid EBC.

Have a chat with Bob at Aztec or Alyn at AS Performance- they've both real nice guys and very helpful.

 

3000s are bad for deposits when they overheat.

Performance Subaru ran KSport brakes all round with DS2500s in Time Attack last year. One set of front and rear pads lasted the entire season and were good enough to get on podium 5 (yes FIVE) times last year in their Classic Impreza.

 

I used DS2500 on track and they were fine if not overly impressive.... the change to Performance Friction was worth every penny, haven't tried Carbotech so can't comment.

Hi mate i have done loads of track days and performance friction are the one for me , their just awsome never had them fade on me yet, not to much dust either, cant recomend them enough, cheers steve.

Performance Friction would be my first choice, but they don't do the '01' compound for my calipers (only the '97' compound)

 

Have DS2500s all round and wore out a set of the front pads after 6 track days (mated with 335mm godspeed front disc).

Quite happy with them but I changed to a bigger disc at the same time so it's hard to work out what was the pad and what was the disc.

 

DS2500's lasted me 2 track days.. then again thats running at 500bhp...
I also needed to change the discs at the same interval levels!

I need to relook at PF... but I have the Porsche set up (aka replaces AP 6 Pots so will need to get them specially made no doubt)

Avoid Pagid Blues - they turned to glass on me and were useless after an hours driving (not a constant hour... but say a morning session on track)... the subaru is too heavy for them

 

Bear in mind that the larger the disc the better the pad life. This applies to all pads. If you do a lot of track days then a KSport big brake kit will save you money long term as pad usage will drop dramatically.

Id also agree that Performance Friction 01s are superior to DS2500 and is what I run on all of our cars, track or road

 

How much we looking at for PF 01's then? These are the recommended track day pad over the 2500?

 

Admittedly, it was only a 15 minute session at Castle Combe, but my k-sport 330(?) kit with DS2500's stood up to all the abuse I threw at it, and that's with a heavy new age with full interior, extra sound deadening and stereo gear and 1.5 fat blokes in the car - really happy with the brakes as they were.

 

On the track I have used the ds2500 with the 360mm ap kit and I am looking to change to something more aggressive.
Low speed braking was ok,but braking from 130mph it was not confidence inspiring.
