2 to 4 pot callipers???
#1
Help needed please,
I've got an MY98 turbo with standard 2 pot callipers and pagid blue pads, although I haven't had any major scares(yet!)it is apparent that more powerful brakes would be good.
Anybody who's done this tell me:
The type of improvement I could expect moving up to 4 pots?
Will these fit straight onto my standard discs under 16" wheels?
(may be needing new discs soon though)
What kind of price should I be paying for used subaru callipers?
And finally anybody out there upgrading their old 4 pots?
All advice and comments appreciated
Thanx.....Melon

Hi,
I upgraded from the standard 96 UK setup (2pots) to 99 spec 4 pots about 10 months ago and fitted EBC discs and Redstuff pads with braided hoses and Dot 5.1 fluid.
The difference was astounding. Much better pedal feel (hoses) and a stronger bit to the brakes with no fade at all even when working hard. Managed to get them smoking on a trackday, but still no fade.
The old 2 pots were nowhere near as good.
Now I'm upgrading to AP 6pots as I've tweaked the power quite a bit (320bhp) and I want to do some trackdays this year.
The 4 pot Subaru callipers cost me £250 from a main agent (2nd hand from someone who had the prodrive upgrade on a new car - so they were almost brand new)
I'd pay £200-£250 for a set.(I've already got a buyer for my 4 pots though - sorry)
Yes they will fit under your 16s no probs as long as they are not an oddball wheel (some do catch - but not many)
It's only my opinion, but if I were you I'd also look at upgrading the standard discs at the same time but DEFINATELY fit braideds. Probably the best value for money mod you'll do.
Cheers
Rich
