I was told by my dealer yesterday that my brake pads were crumbling round the edges. Anyone know why?
Car is a MY00, 18 months old and (ahem, hides head) just over 10000 miles on it. Seeing if I can get them changed under warranty but don't hold much hope
Just wondered why it has happened. Dealer hasn't seen it before.
Guess it's time for an upgrade

This can happen if the pads overheat and the binding material melts causing the pad to fall apart. This should only really happen on a track day or something similar. Unless it was a dud set of pads

Well, I don't do track days, because I would even annoy a pace car with my ludicrously slow speeds
Been to the dealers today and the pads will be replaced under warranty Very happy not to be shelling out more wonga
