I am pretty sure that for the nearest speedo accuracy 215/40/17 is the tyre to use. 215/45 will be less accurate. You can use the 45 profile but then need 205's. I am sure someone will put me right if I'm wrong.

what it is regards the 45's
i've fitted a p1 boxto my car, know driving with 40's the speedo at 70mph is out by 9/10mph

but using 45's the car is out by 4/6mph at 70mph
at the mo, the tyre on these sti v8 wheels are 215/40/17
they seem to fit good.

but to help the speedo, i really need the 45's
but if they dont fit, i'll have to just put up with it

Ok, I see what you mean. If your calculations are correct then I am pretty sure you can use the 215/45's. I have just been through this because I was going to put some later spec wheels on my standard MY99. They would of fitted but thrown out the speedo. This of course is what you want them to do.

This was my thread, it may help-https://www.scoobynet.com/general-technical-10/763195-help-classic-wheel-size.html

but know i have brembo's. i have no choise to keep the 40's on

there must be away to ajust the speedo
no one said if i put a p1 box on, the speedo will be out
lesson learned...
