Question Urgent - JDM Rear Pads vs UK (MY98)

I currently have my JDM WRX Type R V-Limited in the 'local' (Brisbane) Subaru garage, just for a rear brake pad change.

They complained (on my mobile) that as the car is not local, they may have to order in special pads - this to me smells of BS.

So, would a MY98 UK car have different rear brake pads then a JDM ????

They should be the 2 pot calipers fitted on the rear , which has the same pads as the MY01 onwards WRX
